By Todd Gingell Far from content with slipping in to pop-culture obscurity as a sugary late 90’s musical phenomenon, Hanson have gone on to forge a career of continuing success that would bring envy to many other world class bands. Brothers Isaac, Taylor, and Zac own their own record label (3CG), have eight albums under their belt, a dozen successful world […]
Jeremy Williams is a freelance music journalist, photographer, actor and editor living in the UK. He has taken some of our favourite shots of Hanson, interviewed them several times and photographed them while on tour. We first came across Jeremy’s work during the Shout It Out tour, when he took some shots which have […]
April 8th, 2014 by David Swan If you thought ‘90s pop sensations Hanson broke up sometime after ‘MMMBop’, you wouldn’t be alone. Back before the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber and One Direction, Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson were winning tween hearts and dominating bedroom real estate, thanks – for the most part – to their 1997 breakthrough […]
The AU Interview: Isaac Hanson of Hanson (Tulsa) on the Band’s Return to Australia, Anthem and More!
April 2, 2014 by Sosefina Fuamoli Yesterday, many thought it was an April Fools Day joke when it was announced the Tulsa trio would be returning to our shores with their new album Anthem and a pop show that have managed to sell out Australian venues solidly on their last trip over on 2012. It’s real though and […]
Your new album’s out now – was it easy to write and record? This record was an interesting one. We started off with a very specific plan, and we’d started planning pretty far into the whole writing and recording process. We got about one song in, and we realised that everyone was exhausted after two […]
Zac, Taylor and Isaac Hanson who form the group Hanson stopped by this week to talk with Ron Bennington at the Sirius XM studios. The three brothers are best known for their smash hit Grammy nominated song “MmmBop.” Because of their quick success at such a young age, some people wrote them off as a flash-in-the-pan pop group, but there is much more to Hanson than meets the eye. They’re all grown up with kids of their own now, and recording under their own label. Excerpts from the interview appear below.
The new Hanson album may be called Shout It Out, but the boys didn’t have to scream to get our attention. We spoke to the soft-spoken and oldest brother, Isaac, who talks about their fifth studio album, which performer he would like to collaborate with, and their relationship with Weird Al.
No, don’t stop reading yet. I know you’re seeing three blonde-haired teens singing their overplayed smash-hit Mmmbop and thinking, “Wasn’t one of them a girl?” And then, “They’re still around?”
Hanson, (guitarist Isaac, 27; pianist Taylor; 25; and drummer Zac, 22) are still alive and well. They’re touring with their new album, The Walk, as well as promoting TOMS Shoes (for every pair sold, a pair goes to a child in need from Africa: one for one).
But what got Hanson started on their passion for Africa? Zac took some time out of his day to talk to me a bit about the work their doing and their tour, which comes to Hamilton, December 3rd.
Brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac, as the boy band Hanson, shot to fame in 1997 with pop classic Mmm Bop. Now at the grand old ages of 19, 22 and 24 respectively, they’re back in the charts.
They talked to Sky about how that single changed their young lives, how Mmm Bop is one of Bono’s favourite songs, and how they’re getting on as adult musicians.
Storming out of Tulsa, Oklahoma with their major-label debut, Middle Of Nowhere, featuring the “can’t get it out of my head” hit “MMMBop,” drummer Zac Hanson and his brothers Isaac and Taylor became the biggest-selling teen idols of 1997. Zac, only eleven years old at the time, found himself a superstar overnight.

Now nineteen and the CEO of the band’s label, 3CG, Zac speaks to MD online about what it’s like for him eight years later. The brothers’ latest CD is Underneath, and, unlike it predecessor, it lists only Zac behind the kit.
